THE COMPANY

A passion over three generation

HISTORY

THE ORIGIN

Vigne del Bosco Olmè is a family run winery datig back to 1922 when Romano Bragato and his wife Maria bought a small plot of land near Cessalto (TV) and built a farmhouse, a stable and a cellar.

From the beginning, Romano realized that the soil, rich in loam, calcareous clay sediments and calcium carbonates, was particularly suitable for the viticolture and he began to plant and grow the first rows of Merlot and Verduzzo grapes with genuine passion and dedication.

THE EVOLUTION

A the end of the 1960’s his son Giuseppe joined the father and started a small business by selling the wine in demijohns to both private consumers and local wholesalers.

Starting from the 1980s, the “Bragato Giuseppe & Sons” began to sell the wine in bottles: 1982 was the first vintage of bottled wine. Since then the business underwent a process of gradual and constant growth and improvement.

The real change came in 1997, when the “Bragato Giuseppe & Sons” turned into “Vigne del Bosco Olmè” led by Romano’s nephew Vittorino, who is still carrying on his grandfather‘s dream with renowed passion and enthusiasm. The new estate name was selected to honor the beautiful and precious local wood Olmè, which borders protect the vineyards.

Important changes took place under Vittorino’s management. Bunches are thinned in order to improve the quality of the grapes and the wine portfolio is enlarged to include premium oak aged wines and the first “passito” wine made of Verduzzo grapes.

In 2002 he also proceedes with the extention of the vineyards, the building of the new larger cellar and the renewal of the equipment.

TODAY

“Nowadays our winery is still a family-run company” – Vittorino explains – “and I represent the third generation of winemakers. My wife Donatella – constant help and support – and me are very honored of the good results achieved over the years. Everybody appreciates our efforts and recognizes the sacrifice, the passion and the hard work behind any single wine bottle. This make us really happy and proud of our job. Our doors are always open to anyone: friends, consumers, tourists or simply lovers of good wine!”. Cheers!
